The auto safety agency has been investigating the issue since February after reviewing hundreds of reports that the brake lights may malfunction, resulting in reversed operation. The brake lights may activate without depressing the brake pedal and/or turn off when the brake pedal is depressed. NHTSA has now upgraded its investigation into an engineering analysis.
