And so they decided a repeat act might be in order Saturday when Detroit grabbed Ben Verlander, an outfielder from Old Dominion and the younger brother of ace Justin Verlander, in the 14th round of the 2013 baseball draft. Ben Verlander is well-known to the Tigers. They welcomed him to Comerica Park in May during a visit and workout and were warm to the idea of drafting a 6-foot-4, 190-pound, right-handed batter who batted .367 in 53 games for the Monarchs, with 11 home runs.
